It Just Keeps Coming

I woke up this morning and looked out the window to see more snow falling. I figured it would have ended over night since it started to taper off around 10 last night. That's when we went outside and built Pablo the Snowman.

I know, its a pretty bad attempt but we were cold and drunk and it looked good last night in the dark. If this snow keeps up, I'm going to build an entire Snowman army.

Snow Daze

We are slowly getting the study set up at the house. Eventually, this room will have a wall lined in book shelves and lots of heavy wood and leather chairs. For now, I've got my home office set up in the study with the fire going and I just looked out the window to see it's snowing ... again. It has been about four days since the last heavy snowfall so I guess I should have expected it. Thank god I bought a case of wine.

I'm not sure if you can see the snow in this picture but this is the view from the study.

Uh-oh, I better throw another log on the fire.

Mean Spirited Monday - The Oscars

Every Monday morning I post a picture of some random celebrity, or non-celebrity for you to comment on. Remember to have fun and be mean spirited with your comments.

This week, The Oscars. Let the Meanness begin!

I'll get things started. What a load of self congratulatory bull shit. I haven't seen an Oscar awards show that dull since the last time Billy Crystal hosted it. Thank god I was too drunk to remember most of last night's show.

PS. Have the Hollywood trainers been on strike for the past three months? There were a few actors at the awards last night who looked as if they have been packing on the pounds and I doubt its for an upcoming roll.

Dead Or Alive?

The gist of this post is so simple and obvious that I would be surprised if someone else isn't already doing it on a blog or other form or media. If someone else is doing it, I've never heard of you and, quite frankly, it's not my fault that you have so little buzz that you've remained unheard of to me.

The rules are simple, I post a picture and ask the question, Dead or Alive? then you answer.

More Toy Fair Updates

After six straight days of showroom and booth tours, I'm a little toyed out but I'm finally done Toy Fair and slowly but surely blogging all about it over on the Toy Guy website. Check it out by clicking here. I should be back to posting here regularly with a new edition of Dead or Alive? on Friday.

I don't remember how this week's subject came up in conversation but it happened on two separate occasions with two completely different groups of people. It's Mr. Belvedere himself, Christopher Hewett*. So, is he Dead or Alive?

*Don't feel bad if you didn't know the actor's name. I had to look it up.

My Thoughts On Big Brother 9

So did you watch last night? I have one thing to say - Best Season Ever!

I was on the edge of my couch for the entire episode and love all the new twists and turns. I won't divulge anything in case you Tivo'd and haven't watched yet but only Big Brother would force complete strangers to sleep together.

My only complaint was that the show was too short but thankfully, there is a new episode on tonight! Let the writers go back on strike and take all their crappy sitcom, dramas with them - we've got a winter Big Brother!

For much more extensive and funny commentary, check out what Jdizzle had to say over at Hometown Hangover

Oh What A Night and Day

Sorry to leave you hanging yesterday without a Mean Spirited Monday but we had a hell of A Sunday night and I was too exhausted to come up with anything mean or otherwise to say yesterday.

Here is what happened. A friend of ours was visiting from MA (about an hour and fifteen minutes away) and we all went over to another friend's house up here in our neck of the woods for a big country lunch. After a great meal, we said our goodbyes and the MA friend dropped Seth & I off back at our house and headed home.

Even though it was just a little past 7pm, it was pitch dark and about thirty minutes later we got a call from MA friend who was now in an ambulance on her way to the hospital. It turns out, her GPS was taking her home by a different route and in the dark, she thought she was going the way she had come, when at a dangerous and sudden curve in the road, which she thought was going to turn the opposite direction, she lost control of her car, flipped it and spun off the road. Fortunately, she was ok, and walked away with a concussion, and some pretty bad and bloody bruises.

We hopped in our car and headed out to pick her up at the hospital, then off to the police station and finally to try and find her car so she could get her stuff out. We then drove her home to her apartment in central MA and stayed the night there to keep an eye on her. None of us got much sleep and Seth and I finally headed home yesterday around 7am.

In other much better news, my sister had her baby yesterday! A healthy baby boy (her second). Everyone is doing great and gifts for the baby can be sent to me in the form of cash with a note telling me what you would like me to buy with the cash.

I read yesterday that Val Kilmer has just been signed on to do the voice of KITT in the new NBC remake of "Knight Rider". Which makes me wonder, why not bring back the original voice, William Daniels? Perhaps he is stuck working on a "Boy Meets World" reunion. But what we should really be asking is, William Daniels, Dead or Alive?

Here We Snow Again

Yesterday was the closest we have come to actually seeing the ground up here in the mountains. We haven't had any snow accumulate in weeks and it's actually been warm enough for what we had on the ground to melt. Until this morning! I woke up to see everything covered once again and the snow keeps on falling.

I'm not sure if you can see the snow falling in this picture but it's there! I better get into town and stock up on booze before I'm snowed in.

What's The Gayest Thing On Television?

No, it isn't this guy

Christian from Project Runway.

Or even this guy

Charles Nelson Riley from Match Game.

It isn't even this guy

Troy Aikman from football.

It's this

Make Me A Supermodel on Bravo.

Each week, the gaggle of Zoolander wanna-bes are put in challenges that conveniently (for the viewer) require the models to take off their clothes. It's trashtastic TV viewing at it's best! I'm really pulling for Ronnie (no pun intended).

Sarah Silverman on Jimmy Kimmel

In case you haven't already seen this, it's Sarah Silverman on Jimmy Kimmel's show. She dropped by to break the news to Jimmy that she has been fucking Matt Damon. And what better way to break that news than a music video. It's long but worth watching all the way through.

Mean Spirited Monday

Every Monday morning I post a picture of some random celebrity, or non-celebrity for you to comment on. Remember to have fun and be mean spirited with your comments.

This week: As I mentioned in my earlier post (scroll down) I bet on the Patriots to win yesterday so for that reason, this week's M.S.M. victim is New England Patriots quarterback, Tom Brady. Let the Meanness begin!

Party Of Three

I can't believe I'm going to type this but, that was one hell of a game yesterday. We had a small Bowl party up here in the mountains that consisted of me, Seth and our new best friend - TiVo. This is our first TiVo since we always had the Time Warner DVR box when we lived in NYC. This little thing is amazing - not only does it have all the DVR features we were expecting, but we can also use it to stream pictures, music and movies from our computers to the TV. And of course, it has all those great noises.

So back to our Bowl party, we started off early with Animal Planet's Puppy Bowl, which if you have never seen it, is the cutest thing on TV. Every year they get a gang of insanely adorable puppies and put them all together in an enclosed miniature football stadium. The dogs just run around playing with toys and each other and having fun - it's great!

After the puppies it was time for the Super Bowl. Jordan Sparks did a great job singing the National Anthem in a studio sometime last week. Too bad she didn't do as good of a job lip-synching to it last night. And how about Tom Petty! He was on my list for a future Dead or Alive? I'm not sure if I'll be taking him off that list but it was still a great show. Overall, I was unimpressed with the commercials but blown away by the game itself. Unfortunately, I had money on the Patriots.

Gone Country

I've mentioned a few times how difficult it has been to get hi-def, DVR cable service up here in the mountains. The last time I mentioned it, I was waiting for Direct TV to arrive and when they did, they said they could give me cable but they wouldn't be able to provide the local channels. Unfortunately, I can't live without Big Brother, Amazing Race, Survivor, and I suppose even Lost. So I had to give up the dream of super vivid shows when I want them and get regular digital cable (no DVR and not hi-def) from our local cable provider. We've had that for about a week now and until Tivo arrives (tomorrow!!), if we want to watch TV, we have to watch what's on when we turn on the TV and no fast forwarding through commercials. How did we ever survive like this in the last Millennium?

So we have been listening to a lot of music and its been really nice but last night, I was home alone and just wanted to veg out in front of the idiot screen. I lucked out and caught an episode of The Fattest Losers Couple Edition and The Real Housewives of the O.C. reunion. But the real gem of the evening was undoubtedly, Gone Country on the CMT channel.

The premise of this show is "musicians" from various musical genres are picked to live together in a house and find out what happens when people stop being polite and get real live the life of a country singer with the ultimate goal of being picked to record and release a country song. Here's where it gets fun, the musicians are Sisqó, Maureen McCormick (singer/actor, The Brady Bunch), Julio Iglesias Jr.(not as hot as his brother but apparently he has never been told that), Diana DeGarmo, Dee Snider (I don't think he is gonna make it), Carnie Wilson, and every body's favorite TV train wreck - Bobby Brown.

If you haven't seen Gone Country yet, you have only missed one episode so I highly recommend setting your DVRs to record this one.

I Heart Mii

Sure Valentine's day is a sham holiday designed to force us to open our wallets during an otherwise dreary time of year for retailers. But it's also a great excuse to eat too much chocolate. If that special someone in your life happens to be a gamer, he or she probably isn't really going to want that cute Teddy bear with the T-shirt that says "I love you beary much" on it. What they really want is a chocolate Mii heart.

These chocolate hearts are made of 2.1 ounces of dark, white, or milk chocolate and feature two Mii characters with heart-shaped Red Hots on their shirts. You can choose the Mii combination that suits you best from two boys, two girls, or one of each and every combination comes in a box that looks like a Wii with the inscription, "Wii belong together, you and Mii" on it.

Chocoalte Mii's are the creation of Paul Pape Designs, and although they are no longer accepting new orders, 500 boxes will be made available on February 1 at ThinkGeek.com

Throw Me The Chives, I'll Throw You The Whip

I can't imagine Harrison Ford is too excited about the Tater of the Lost Ark, Mr. Potato Head but I sure am.

The Tater of the Lost Ark is the latest Hasbro mash-up of popular film characters with the classic Mr. Potato Head. Tater of the Lost Ark comes complete with whip, fedora, leather jacket, and gold idol and is scheduled to be released in May. I'm hoping to get a first hand look at the action-spud next month at Toy Fair.

The Most Swashbuckling Speakers I Have Ever Seen

I'm not entirely sure why someone would want these skull speakers. I guess they would nicely compliment a room's pirate themed decor.

Whatever the case may be, they give off a hardy blue light when in use and cost $71.75 for the pair. Apparently there is also a matching webcam. Click here for more info or to buy a pair for the pirate in your life.

I can totally picture this Star Wars Lightsaber Lamp illuminating my Star Wars collection display case. Yes, I really have a display case filled with Star Wars collectibles and no, I don't care what you think of me for admitting that. Just check it out!

The LightSaber Lamp comes in Luke Skywalker green and Darth Vader red. It is powered by AAA batteries rather than a diatium power cell like the real thing, which means it probably won't give off too much light. You can get your very own now for $23 from NCS by clicking here.

Living In A Winter Wonderland

It literally snowed all day yesterday up here in the mountains. From the time I woke up in the morning to the time I went to bed - it was snowing. It looks like we have about 6 inches of snow on the ground right now but I'm no meteoroligical expert.

Here is the view from our living room window.

Crazy, huh?

The best thing about living in the mountains (our town is in the foothills of the Berkshires) is that the people up here know how to handle the snow. The roads are plowed and everyone goes about there business as if nothing is covering the ground.
This much snow in Manhattan and everything would have come to a stop. Or at least, the Subway would probably shut down.

What Am I Missing?

While things are coming along nicely here on the home front, we still don't have TV. Hopefully that will be remedied this weekend when the Direct TV people arrive. Oddly enough, I haven't really missed watching the idiot box but I have to admit, I feel a little left out.

I'm hoping you can help answer some TV related questions that have been rattling around in my head.
Is the writers strike still going on?

How are Kate and Pat doing on the Amazing Race? Great I'm sure. After all, If anyone can win the race its two geriatric lesbian ministers from Thousand Oaks, CA.

Has the Supreme Court chosen a new President for us yet? I seem to recall a lot of hoopla about elections. Have they happened?

Who is still in and who is out on Project Runway? Please don't tell me Jack is out. He is my favoritist.

Speaking of Bravo, has Make Me A Supermodel started yet?! I can't imagine anything more craptastically entertaining than a supermodel contest hosted by Tyson Beckford and Niki Taylor!

Who won the Super Bowl?

That's about all for now. I'll let you know if I have any more burning questions later. Please keep your fingers crossed that everything works for us with Direct TV this weekend, I'd hate to miss the finale of Survivor China.

Our First Homeowner's Headache

The small leak that appeared in the basement bathroom last week didn't fix itself as I originally thought it would. Seth and I, having absolutely no experience with plumbing, diagnosed the cause of the leak as two faulty gaskets that attach the toilet to the floor. Surely replacing those gaskets would end the problem so off to the hardware store we went.

I can't tell you how shocked we were to find the leak had returned. It was finally time to call in the pros and Glen the plumber arrived on the scene shortly after. Glen determined the problem was either a clog in the pipes under the house or the septic system needed to be drained. He had to call for backup.

After uncovering the septic system, it was determined the problem is a clog in the pipes and the fellas from Darcy Construction are currently hard at work to clear that clog.

It's a bit of a relief to know that the septic tank isn't the problem but that doesn't answer the question of what and how this mysterious clog arrived. Of course, I have a theory as to the cause and her name is Kelly.

Good News!

I finally have the interwebs up and running and a land line at the new house! We still don't have cable TV but hopefully that will be remedied this weekend when the Direct TV folks get out here.

Otherwise, the unpacking and setting up home is coming along nicely. Even though we are just a little over two and half hours north of the city, the weather here is drastically different. We had close to two feet of snow fall last week and it's just staring to melt. Check out the following picture of my back yard to see what I'm talking about.

Hopefully now that I've got the "emails" I'll be getting back to a more regular posting schedule.

Because I Care About You

I don't know about you but for the past few years, I have done most of my holiday shopping online. I also do most of my non-holiday shopping online but that's none of your business. If you also like to shop the emails then you might be interested in a site I just found out about today, which really would have been useful to know about last month.

The site is called DealNews.com and basically it lists hundreds of incredible deals to be found online. I'm not talking about crap that you would never want but good stuff like Mac's for under $800 and Kensington iPod speakers for $54. I even saw a JVC Digital Camcorder for $200 with free shipping! They also have all sorts of stuff for your home and car and anything else you might be shopping for.

Have you heard of or used this site before? If so, what did you think?

And no, unfortunately I'm not getting paid to post about DealNews.com. However, if DealNews is reading, I'm open to selling out.

This week, The Cratchit Family. Let the Meanness begin!

Poor Bob Cratchit my ass! I imagine in 1840s London, a majority of the population would have killed for an indoor job, where they could sit down. It's not that the Cratchits didn't make enough money to live comfortable, the problem is they couldn't stop having kids. Maybe if they showed a little restraint, or Bob agreed to wear a condom, they could have afforded a nice flat on Easy street rather than a hovel on Skid Row. And who doesn't think that Tiny Tim was faking? I mean come on! Being the youngest of 16 kids he had to do something to get a little attention.

"Spirit Airlines - MILF Sale - Fares From $9* Each Way"

Contrary to the subject line, as far as I can tell, the sale doesn't have anything to do with any Mother I'd Like to Fuck. Sounds like a blatant example of false advertising to me.

Mean Spirited Monday Holiday Edition

Every Monday morning I post a picture of some random celebrity, or non-celebrity for you to comment on. Remember to have fun and be mean spirited with your comments.

This week, the Whos down in Whoville. Let the Meanness begin!

Can you imagine living next door to this band of freaks? They are constantly singing, making all sorts of a ruckus and probably blowing things up in their ovens. No wonder the Grinch did what he did just to get a good night's rest.
