Jeffrah's Book Club

Some of the best books that I have ever read have been the ones that friends have recommended to me. So I decided to launch a new section that would allow me to check in with everyone to see what they are reading or would like to recommend to others.

So use the comments section and tell me what you are currently reading (if you like it) or have read and would highly recommend. You can write as much (mini reviews) or as little as you want but make sure to include the book's title and author.

I'll get things started:

I just began reading Memoirs of a Buccaneer, Dampier's New Voyage Round The World by William Dampier. This book, originally published in 1697, is a compilation of Dampier's journals written during his time spent with and as a pirate and/or buccaneer.

So far, so good - I'll let you know when I finish it.

  1. Not fair Jeff, you know I don't read.

Just kidding. I do read, but i get bored, put down the book and pick it up later. Over the summer I read Never Get Your Dog Stuffed by Alan Alda of MASH fame. It's a memoir of his life and it's very funny and an easy read.

If you love Alan, you'll love this book.

  2. Right now, I'm boring. I'm rereading Ethan Frome, but soon hope to move on to something a little more exciting...or you know, published in the later 1900s.

  3. I'm in my second year of reading several books. Tv and the internet are very distracting. However, I'm very close to finishing The Devil in the White City. It's a true tale of the Chicago's World Fair and a serial killer. I'm also reading Blue Latitudes by Tony Horwitz, which traces Captain Cook's voyages around the world. I don't enjoy fiction.

Country Road - You can never go wrong with the classics.

Josh - Captain Cook is mentioned several times in the book I'm currently reading.

  6. I am reading Eat, Pray, Love..I like the concept of the book a woman in her 30's takes a years to self explore while trveling in Europe and Asia but I just don't like the author. I could never imagine us being friends. Still reading....

Jeff...I love the Jeffrah's book club idea!

Jeff, That sounds like a very cool read. Is it in modern english, or old school "ye" and stuff?

I'm in the middle of Hack, by Melissa Plaut, and I'm really enjoying it.
