Mean Spirited Monday

Every Monday morning I post a picture of some random celebrity, or non-celebrity for you to comment on. Remember to have fun and be mean spirited with your comments.

I can't imagine anyone having anything mean to say about this week's subject. To be honest, while this isn't my favorite character, I don't really harbor any ill will toward him. The fact is, I'm seeing an oral surgeon this afternoon and unless something unforeseen happens, I'll be having a wisdom tooth extracted. From what people tell me, I can expect a lot of pain, discomfort, swelling and bleeding over the next few days. So I had to find a scapegoat to direct my anger at, which brings us to this week's Mean Spirited Monday.

It's Dr. Teeth, lead singer of the Electric Mayhem! Let the meanness begin!

  1. I'll get things started.

When I was little, Dr. Teeth always creeped me out. I think my conservative parents influenced my thoughts that the Dr. and his traveling band were just a bunch of drugged out hippies traveling around and causing trouble.

  2. Dr. Teeth is high as a kite ALL THE TIME. Plus I think his teeth are actually dentures. And everyone knows that Janice is the brains behind The Electric Mayhem.

  3. I have nothing bad to say about Dr. Teeth. As a musician, it is his responsibility to be high as a kite all the time.
Oddly enough, though, I almost posted a little blurb very recently about what do I do for what's probably a cavity when I don't have health insurance, and I was going to work the name Dr. Teeth in there somewhere. Toothache went away so I'm not going to think about it anymore.

  4. Dr. Teeth is Grover's cousin The Pimp Drug Dealer. They just toned it down for television.

  5. Dr. Teeth was the weakest part of the Muppets Show.

  6. 1. Multiple puppeteers required to operate his lengthy arms, resulting in cost overruns that eventually killed the Muppet Show

    2. His addiction to horse tranquilizers was a real distraction

    3. Love triangle between Dr. T, Animal and Janice, although filled with creative tension that fueled the band's songwriting, caused spectacular Fleetwood Mac-esque breakup

    4. Despite lofty title, was not a real medical doctor -- he only had a Ph.D in philosophy from Oxford

Personally, I think Dr. Teeth was certainly one in a million. He said so himself in the Christmas special "A Muppet Family Christmas" that he was proud of being a weirdo. So yeah he is pretty weird, but that's just his personality and the way he was intended to be when Jim Henson started to perform more than 30 years ago. I just think it's sad that he's not seen anymore due to Jim's death.
